Dr. Sandria Godwin is a Professor in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences and serves as Coordinator of the Food Safety, Nutrition, and Family Well-Being Team in the Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Research at Tennessee State University. Dr. Godwin and her research team are particularly known for their work in the field of home refrigeration temperatures and related consumer practices, safe handling and storage of ready-to-eat foods, rapid detection techniques for pathogens, and consumer food safety knowledge. Their work with the safety of vegetables was featured on a segment of National Public Radio, and has been mentioned in numerous articles in popular press.
